Product Description
This rhyton is shaped with protome of he-goat, which sculptures the whole front part of the animal’s body. It is the only vessel in the Panagyurishte Thracian Gold treasure set without handles because its long and narrow neck can be held easily. The neck illustrates scene with four figures. In the middle Zeu’s wife Hera is seated on a throne. On her left side is standing Artemis, the Goddess of hunting, portrayed with the typical for her bow held by her left hand. On Hera’s right side there is Apollo, also holding a bow. On the back part of the neck there is the winged Goddess of victory Nike with ribbon in her right hand. All details of the bodies, clothing and attributes are rendered with pedantic care. The figure of Nike is modelled more expressively and dynamically of all.
The technique used for this replica of the amphora-rhyton is called “galvanoplastic”, which allows an exact replica to be made, but with a much lighter material. Our team of designers creates a precise carving on a silicone mold in which we pour wax. The wax takes the form of the object, which after that we cover with metal through galvanoplasty process, and finish it with gold cover.
